Just How Hot is it?
Guess it really depends who you ask. The last time I remember it being this hot and dry in Houston was the first year I started work back in 1980. Of course I didnt live in Houston from the early nineties until later 2004 , but I am fairly certain that it's been that long since we had this weather pattern. Thinking about this has me reflecting back to the year of 1980 when I loaded up my Mazda GLC with all of my worldly belongings [left or gave away what wouldnt fit] and drove from St Louis to Houston to start my life as a Hospital Administrator. Gosh what an odyssey the last 29 years have been! The memories and experiences of my administrative residency and my many years at Methodist Hospital are still so vivid and real, its mind boggling to think it was so long ago. Whether it be having lunch with Mrs Fondren in her hospital room or taking her to lunch at Kaphan's, or sitting in the bullpen on Fondren 2 with the other two residents.....in many ways it feels like it was last week or just last month instead of almost three decades. Its a good thing too because remembering how exciting, fun, scary and awe-inspiring that experience was is what I thinks keeps me fresh and never too comfortable ....and that in turn allows me the ability to adjust to the highs, lows and in-betweens that come with the life as a health care executive.
