There are times in your life at which you are able to separate the sheep from the goats, so to speak, among those you considered to be friends. I am definitely in one of those periods of my life where that is happening, and I must say for the most part, I am amazed by the number of folks that have reached out, offered their prayers and help, and have shown that I can count on them through thick and thin. These are the sheep.
On the other hand there are others who have shown that their friendship was false and based upon other pretense. These are the goats and they are all in the rear view mirror!
And there is a third category that emerges at this time, and I will call them the angels. The angels are those who reach out to you unexpectedly....those you have met socially or done business with or helped sometimes in ways you didn't even realize. The angels are folks you haven't heard from in years who call out of the blue and want to help you. I have been surprised as to just how many angels there are and how many different places that they come from. One of my friends told me candidly last week that during career transitions like I am in that the folks that will help you the most will be those I have categorized as angels, and so far what he said is proving true. That doesn't minimize the importance of the true friends, but it has been one of the great surprises as I begin the next part of my life adventure.......its Mulligan time!
"How are my vegetables?"....update from earlier post:
The broccoli has produced and I have taken it out. Was a little milder than that you buy in the store and had some features like broccoli rabe. Had the first of the lettuce last night and it was delish. The onions are purple, and spicy and starting to bloom. The cabbages are filling out and will be ready soon. The carrots are growing and the eggplants are blooming. The bell peppers have small fruit on them and are blooming up a storm, and the squash are growing and full of blossoms. About to plant okra and a couple of tomato plants. So my vegetables are doing just fine, and so am I!
