Bluebonnet craze

There are really just two types of people at this time of year....those that live in Texas and understand our crazed response to the bluebonnet explosion that takes place in late March and early April, and everyone else. Its almost as though the whole state sits and waits for that first purplish blue spear to shoot out of the little palm like green leaves that first sprout in the fall in order to give ourselves permission to venture out to the highways and byways and gaze at the incredible display of colors that pop out overnight. It takes the right combination of sun, rain, and temperature that is not always predictable, but regardless of the exact date of the appearance, they do spring forth and this year have done so with exceptional brilliance. If you dont live in this part of the world, I hope you have visited bluebonnet country to see it at least once because it really does defy description. And for those of you just waiting for the reports to get in your car and take the kids out for the obligatory shot of them sitting among the bluebonnets, I am happy to say that it is time! And this year I think they will peak on Easter weekend, which seems very appropriate this year as an additional reason to celebrate the Holiday and enjoy all of God's beautiful creations, especially the bluebonnet.
