New Year, New Decade

A time for all of us to reassess, recharge, review and renew, and I have spent an incredible amount of time before, during and after New Year's Day doing this. The extra cold weather for this part of the world made this easier since it was hard to stay outside for very long, so I spent a large amount of time sitting by the fireplace at the farm, reading, writing, reaching out to friends and family, and seeking advice and counsel as we move into the twenty teens. I have never been one to wish away time, but I am happy to move into the new year and the new decade. This past year has been one of great challenge, stress, and difficulty not only for me but for the country and the entire world.

So as I start my journey into the new year with all of its promise and hope, my inventory includes my gratitude for my family and loved ones, my friends who have stuck by me through thick and thin, my colleagues, my farm and my faith. And even with all of the challenges and uncertainties about the future, especially with the economy and the state of the world, I renew my commitment to be a better person, improve my health and happiness, and try to be more of a positive influence wherever I can and really start paying forward. And if I can lose weight, exercise more, not work so much, and get the Aggies to win a few more football games next year that would be icing on the cake!

Happy happy New Year!!!
